Christmas

Christmas is a very joyous and important holiday. It was the day that the Virgin Mary gave life to Jesus. He was born in a barn with animals. Then the three wise men followed a beloved star to come upon a holy baby. Christmas is also important because it is the time for giving and family time. I love Christmas because everyone is always in a good mood and they are all very generous. In the Christmas spirit I am going to go and donate and volunteer at the Austin Police Department Operation Blue Santa. I have never done this but I look forward to this wonderful experience. I like the idea of almost my entire family contributing to this project. My aunt and mother thought of the idea to volunteer with delivering the presents to families in need . I really really really want to do this and I look forward giving back to the community! I am going to have a very generous Christmas.
The second part of my Christmas I am going to spend in Austin and Manor. I plan to spend Christmas Eve at my grandparents house in Manor. There I plan to exchange presents and talk with my family! So fun! Then Christmas Day I will wake up too early and open all my presents! I still can't confirm with you that these are my official plans. I may or may be with my dad for Christmas Eve and receive my presents from family early!! Yay! Merry Christmas guys and Have an awesome Christmas!

Toros Game

The Toros game was AWESOME! I sat next to Karina and Shawn. Irie was there ,too. I had fun up there. Karina and I shared a pizza and lots of laughs. I payed attention sort of. I was laughing alot at the peolpe who were dancing. I had a blast! When Karina went to the restroom i offered to come too and it was hilarious! Why? 'Cause I scared the living dead out of her! I pretended like I left and when she came out I said RAR! And she freaked OUT!! It was so funny!
I thought that things couldn't get better but they did! Karina and I were selected by Dr. Cantu to sit in the front row seat 15! We were so close that they were sweating on us! Gross ,but cool! The coach kept his guard up the whole game! He was cussing and shouting through out the game. Then, ( Yeah some more!) one of the staff told me when the game was at 1:30 seconds I was to go to the table to recieve a ball and shirt! I wa named FAN OF THE GAME!!!!! AWESOME RIGHT?! I got to meet number 44 Dwayne Jones! HE was like super duper tall! It was so cool! He signed his shirt which read PLAYER OF THE DAY and he gave it to me! We took a picture and it was AWESOME!!!! I had a blast at the game and I thank Dr. Cantu and all her work! Thank YOU!

On November 23, 2009 2 visitors came and discussed our game topics, and formats. First, we made up our own game and used the topic Health and more specifically Lung Cancer. We discussed how are game would be set-up. We said that the game would include something like a smoking monster and a character would be shooting cures/antidotes back at the monster. (Cure/Antidote being stop smoking gum, patches, water, exercise, and all things to avoid smoking)
Finally we discussed our own game plans with Ms. Rachel, Ms. Meredith, and Ms. Shannon. Although we could not physically see Ms. Shannon and Ms. Meredith we could hear them. We contacted them through phone and they listened to our conversations. Almost like eaves-dropping! Just Kidding! And then accidentally I hung up because I lifted the phone and pressed the button and it went uuuu....! Ha ha I was laughing and I felt ashamed but then I was fine! Mrs. Ross-Miller asked if I wanted to present. Well actually she told me I was going to present! And as I was presenting Ms. Shannon and Ms. Meredith I was heading in the right direction and she gave me some good suggestions! Then I listened to the other's presentation and gave good critique and suggestions.

This week I was finishing up my Game Prep Questions. I learned how to make text boxes, change color and font. I leasrned how to type and write in Flash. This week was alittle complex because we had to type our Questin 1-7 in Flash. I didn't like doing Flash over and over because when there no carrot or bunny and without them there's no fun! I mean come on who wants to write about their game! I want to get to the desighning! Although I guess planing ahead is good.
My excitment about my game probably would be desighing the game and getting to see my work somewhere! I mean that would be AWESOME! I'm not a big gamer ,but creating a game would be AWESOME!!!!! I mean if I moved to a different school (which I won't) I would be ahead of every body!

Thanksgiving

For Thanksgiving I am either going to with my dad to celebrate with them or I am with my mom. I love going with my mom and it is going to be the 2nd year I have been with my mom's family or it will be the 1st year I am with my dad. If I go with my dad I will be with my mom for Christmas and if I go with my mom I will be with my dad for Christmas with my dad. I don't really care which parent I go with just as long as I'm with family. Yay! I'm really happy about spending time with both parents because I love them both equally no matter what I do! And they love me no matter what I do! Yay!

Flash

This week in Globaloria our main focus is on Flash and action script. We are learning how to make moving objects, layers, adding color, and sound. I learn so much in Globaloria that is helpful at home or at any computer. Sometimes it can be a bit boring and frustrating! I mean I love it and all but who in their right mind make us watch a 20 minute instructional video!!!!! UGH!!! Anyway this is what happened!
First, we watched that dumb 20 minute instructional video on flash. Second, we went to flash and we made this characters and then we made them ''symbols.'' During that I got totally lost in assisting others! I was on the edge of a tantrum, but then Karina was keeping me updated! She helped me and I helped her. Overall I had a lot of fun doing action script.
I learned how to add animation, and motion. I learned how to go crazy in 10 minutes! I learned how to delete pictures.
I had a lot of fun doing this assignment and look forward to further challenges! Thank You for all you do Mrs. Ross-Miller!!!

Red Ribbon Week! I'm Drug Free!!!

"Red Ribbon week" is celebrating staying drug free and helping other stay and be drug free. As students we must pledge to be drug free and help fellow people drug free. We need to confront those who choose to do and sell drugs and warn them of the harmful things drugs can do to them physically and emotionally. To Me staying drug free is more important than my cat Angel!! Drugs can play an important or a small role in your life. Staying drug free is important because it can really effect day-to-day life.

My thoughts about Enrique Camarena..... Brave..... Heroic..... Changer..... Guardian Angel. He was all of these things. He was wiling to throw himself out into the open dangerous world just to stop people from further going with the drug process. He had three children and I'm pretty sure they lost a load when their father's body was recovered. He had won several awards for busting some major drug dealers. And the small ones he caught could of turned into a major corporation ,but he stopped it! He did the work! He made people realize how important stopping these kinds of people was.

These are some things to remember when on the internet! Be careful of what you do!

  1. Never to give out personal information such as your name, home address, school name, or telephone number in a chat room or on bulletin boards.
  2. Also, never send a picture of yourself to someone you chat with on the computer without your parent's permission
  3. Do not meet someone without the permission of your parents
  4. Tell your parents right away if you read anything on the Internet that makes you feel uncomfortable

Technology

Technology
Technology is one of my strongest subjects. It is amusing, challenging, and keeps me occupied.
To me nothing is very frustrating. I like most things about technology. Although sometimes getting things to be placed, or copied, or pasted, or here or there is difficult. But all it takes is a little playing around with it and trying new things.
Making an improvement in this class would be keeping up with the class and paying attention. Also instead of messing around I should be trying to focus.
Mrs. Ross-Miller in my opinion is doing a fantastic job getting us to complete our work and projects. I love the way she is understanding and wiling to comfort you. Also the way she is firm and honest when that kind of teacher is needed.
I understand all of the assignments and concepts in Globaloria. I like this class very much.
Somethings that I would like to see more of would probably be media, sports, graphics, all students being engaged in the lesson, and modern technology.
And maybe some incorporation in YouTube or reading or sports or something that will make us wonder!!!
Thank you Mrs.Ross-Miller for the effort and being such a wonderful teacher!
Thank You!!!

Game Genres

The shooting stars are making good progress with the genres of action adventure and life simulation.
We picked Action and Adventure because every game need a little 'pow' and the gamer must be interested in the topic/subject. Also because we would like like the gamer to progress in his or her session.
We picked Life Simulation because in the situations in the game they could help with resolving the problems. Also because they could encourage people to help out in communities, shelters, and maybe do some type of service.

Final Exam

I have learned a whole lot of things in Globaloria Class this six weeks. I have learned to post blogs on my blogger and change my status on both blogger and My-G-Life. I have learned to add pictures, hyperlinks, and videos. I have learned to change the screen saver and the desktop background which Mrs. Ross-Miller hates! :) I have leaned the short cuts to clicking and double clicking. I have learned most of the settings.I have learned new vocabulary words such as ribbon, button, hot key, fragment, and log. I have learned to look at how many people visit things by looking at the log. I have learned to type faster by getting behind on assignments when I type too slow and memorizing the button locations. I have learned to chat with friends on wiki and g-mail. I have learned to do online academic assignments. I have learned not to upload certain things if they have virus threats. I have learned the first few steps to creating games and how they should look. I have also learned to keep everything nice and organized on the computer because your data could get lost or the teachers will get after you. Thank You to all the teachers that have taught and corrected me this six weeks! Especially Ms.Ross-Miller! ☆

Learn The Bones

"Learn The Bones" is a good educational game about the 206 bones that are in your body. The purpose of the game to me was to teach and get students to understand and be interested in the Human body.
From the learners point of view it was an interesting game. I enjoyed learning about the bones. I understood what to do and the purpose of the game. The instruction were very clear and understandable. From the developers point of I would have changed the colors. They didn't look like a color combination to me. I would be very proud of myself if i was the game developer. The game overall is AWESOME!!

The game was very creative. I liked the way the developer included different colors. It was very vibrant. It looked professional and kid friendly.

It was very clear what to achieve. It worked very well and I had fun playing it.

Although I would improve the time of play. Because It was a short amount of time that the player had to finish the puzzle and answer. Also i would change the question part from only having one try to having three strikes.

I really enjoyed playing both games.

-Thank You

Are You Making the Right Choices?

"Are you making the right choices?" was a good, fun and, educational game. The purpose of the game to me was early life choices and helping learners understand the hard and confusing situations he or she may encounter and making good healthy smart choices. It was like a multiple choice answer.

From my point of view the game was very educational. I understood what to do and how to do it and I understood the purpose of the game. From the developers point of view I would probably change the instructions to make them a bit more simple for those who do not understand. And make the game a little more interesting like maybe add more levels or being able to pick your piece. Also maybe something to make the person more interested.

In my eyes the the game was set up like a playing board with spaces and a person to represent the player. It was legible and creative. Although i would have have changed it to make it a little bigger and clearer. But it was very welcoming and pre-teen friendly.
I would like to learn to create games period! But i would also like to add color and animation to writing and also i would like to learn to do games with multi players.
-Thank you

Animals

Dear Reader,

Animals. I think more people should be interested in them because there are many things happening to them such as extinction, endangerment, and animal abuse. Animals are very important to this planet and I think animals should be treated with respect and care. Also I think we should do every thing in our power to protect these lovable creatures. I am going to also post a video and hyper link on animal care and animal facts. I am very interested in animals and hope you realize how important they are to the Earth. Thank You!

Dear Mrs. Ross-Miller,
I had a blast at the Wild Flower Center! I saw birds, pollinating bees, huge spiders, butterflies, fat caterpillars and much more. I smelled the sweet smell of the Chocolate Flower, the disgusting smell of the dung on the floor, the awesome smell of nature and the great smell of flowers. I did everything! I did a scavenger hunt, I climbed up the big tower, I learned about all kinds of flowers and organisms in the wild, and i had fun! Thanks!

Technology Class

In Globaloria I plan to make a game that has to do with either planet conservation or with solving the problem of animal homlessness. I am most excited about learning more about modern technology and computer uses. I am most frightened about having to stay after class and sooner or later get behind on some homework and class work assignments.

Action/Adventure Game Facts

The first action/adventure game released was Atari 2600 in 1979. (The Atari 2600 was also called the Atari VCS.) They made lots of favorite game for the Atari 2006 including Carnival, Atlantis, Beam rider, Space Wars, Breakout, Demon Attack and E.T. The Atari was a video game console for the family it was shared and brought among most families who could afford it. The Atari2006 consisted of a joystick and a squared looking base system. The Atari 2600 was a very successful console so the game designers wanted to try out for just just 1 more.
And then in 1982 following the release of the more advanced game console related to the Atari 2006. The Atari 5200. The Atari 5200 consisted of 2 joysticks and a similar square looking base. The games consisted of PAC-man, Centipede, Defender, and Jungle Hunt. There was more colors for the Atari 5200 instead of having dull colors.
Okay so enogh about the Atari now lets talk about Action/Adventure Game history. The Legend Of Zelda was one of the big games on the market. It was produced by Nintendo in the 1980's. http://gamedesign.wikicomplete.info/action-adventure-game
The reason I choose these two topics is because I think that my game may include things like iteam gathering and fun for the player. I think that my game is going to be pretty good! Wish me Luck
